Mt Washington Milk Glass Antique Fern Condiment Set, Painted by the Smith Bros. Scarce Complete Salt, Pepper, & Mustard Jars w Lids. qewa

$140.00

At Memory Lane

This antique milk glass condiment set of salt, pepper, and mustard containers is complete with all the respective lids. The base is scalloped and has a handle.

The base color is, naturally, white. It has been hand painted with blue at the top of the glass and then it disappears – fades out. The jars are all painted with ferns. Once again the fading affect is carried thru – but starting at the bottom instead and then disappearing towards the top.

This is the antique blown and pressed fern condiment set and it is identified as such. There is a vintage condiment set, made by Imperial in the 1950s. The Imperial vintage set is a bit different; along with the obvious newer jar tops and lids, the motif painting that Imperial had applied is completely different. It is a beautiful set, but it is not this antique set. If you are looking for the vintage set; this set is not for you. I have seen online some of the vintage sets identified as antique, so please be aware of what you are buying. I have also seen sold online the antique base being sold with the vintage jars; once again, please educate yourself and be aware of what you are purchasing.

Material: Antique Milk Glass
Color: White (Also known as Opal, Opaline, or Opalware) w Blue
Base Height w Handle: 6 1/2 inches
Base Width: 5 3/8 inches
Height of Salt & Pepper Shakers: 3 ¼ inches
Height of Mustard Container: 3 inches

Creation Date: 1878 - 1899
Maker: Mt Washington, New Bedford, MA
Painters: The Smith Brothers, Alfred and Harry
Bottom Marks: None

Base Paint Condition: Excellent. As it was applied with all of its imperfections since it was hand painted.
Base Glass Condition: Fair. It is chipped in numerous spots on the top of the base. It is not chipped on the bottom – at all.
Base Handle: Fair. It is a bit rusted.

Paint Condition of Jars: Excellent. Once again, as it was applied with all of its imperfections since they also were hand painted.
Glass Condition of Jars: Very Good. Not because of any chips – because there are none – but because there is lead deposit on one of the salt/pepper shakers.
Metal Lids: Fair. Crap - What can I say – the salt/pepper shakers are dented; and one has a piece missing. But they both fit on the lids. The mustard lid has a dent in it, a little rust, and it is just starting to have that yucky green Verdi on it. It cleaned it a bit, but it is still present.

Spoon. The spoon is not original to the set. I really am not sure if they came with one or not. But either way, this one is silver plated and was created sometime after 1962. It is marked with “1847 ROGERS BROS I S “. It is in excellent condition. It is 4 3/8 inches long.

You are purchasing and will receive this condiment base, the three jars, the three lids to these jars, and the cute little mustard spoon.

I have provided you with several pictures. I hope, the pictures along with this lengthy description, will give you a sense of how very special this set is.

Thank you for reading this. I apologize for the length. My descriptions are not always this long. But I felt an explanation was necessary in this case.

Shared Postage. I am a small seller and cannot offer "free shipping", so I am sharing the postage on this item with you. I have done this by manipulating the "calculated shipping" so that it will show you a lesser amount than the actual shipping; I will be paying the remainder.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it normally take you to ship an item?

All orders received by 8:00 PM Eastern Time are processed (mailed) the next day. I ship daily six days a week --- except when there is a holiday.

What do you do if the shipping calculator has over estimated or under estimated the shipping charges?

If the shipping calculation is over by more than 25 cents, I will reimburse you. Yup, I will reimburse you 25 cents.

If the shipping calculator is under by any amount, you will not know about it; that is, I will not request that you make any further payment because of an error of mine, the calculator, or the system.

If I contact you, when can I expect a reply? What are your normal working hours?

My normal hours Sunday through Thursday are 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM Eastern Standard Time AND Friday and Saturday 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM EST. During these hours, I will normally get back to you immediately or within two hours of your request. Please note that I ship six days a week.
On my off hours, I will normally return your question as soon as I open up for the day.

I do not operate with any smart devices - only dumb ones, as they simply do not work in dead zones, so I periodically throughout my day check the old desktop.

Are there any other requirements to return an item? For what reasons do you allow returns?

1. You, the buyer, shall ensure the items are received by me in the SAME condition in which you received it. You are not required to use the original packaging and box. Feel free to use your own if you so desire
2. In addition, please provide me, via a convo, the tracking number within one calendar week of receiving the item.

Returns can be made for any reason whatsoever. You will receive the original cost of the item, the original shipping, and the handling fee (if any). I do not charge a bogus restocking fee or any other fees. Be aware that the cost to return the item (shipping) will not be reimbursed to you.

Do I, the buyer, pay for shipping insurance?

As you may or may not be aware, shipping insurance benefits the seller. I normally pay for the insurance, if any. The only time, you (the buyer) would pay for the insurance is if YOU request it.

I do not normally buy additional insurance as I tend to pack for a nuclear blast...or, at least, for war.

What are your requirements if I am to pay by money order?

The only money orders that are acceptable are USPS money orders. All other money orders will be returned upon receipt and the transaction will be cancelled.

Money orders are to be received by me within EIGHT calendar days. When the money order is not received within the 8 calendar days, then the transaction will be cancelled. I suggest, although it is not required, that these be sent with tracking. The item will be shipped once the money order has been received and cashed by me.

Once again, the only money orders that are permitted are UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE money orders.
Once again, the USPS money orders must be received by me within EIGHT CALENDAR DAYS of the sale.

Do you accept offers?

NO, I am sorry. I do not.

I do, however, encourage you to shop around. In many of my listings, I leave a reference at the bottom of the description to assist you in your research. This way, you will be able to compare apples with apples.

HOW DO I ENSURE THAT MY ITEM WILL BE SHIPPED WITHIN ONE BUSINESS DAY (OR LESS)?

Simply "tick" the radio button on the left hand side of your search screen under

Shipping

"Ready to Ship in 1 Business Day".

When you do this, you will get results for all the shops in the etsy marketplace that have your item and ship within one business day OR LESS.

Pretty Neat, Huh?

Why wait when you don't have to?

Do you have any sales going on right now?

I have currently half priced a couple of items in my etsy marketplace store (AtMemoryLane.store) and several more items in my sister stand alone shop (AtMemoryLane.shop).

In addition, I have temporarily reduced a few items in my marketplace shop, as well as, additional items AtMemoryLane.shop.

If you are interested, you can get to AtMemoryLane.shop via any browser.

Are you going on vacation anytime soon?

Nope.
