Vintage Pressed Glass Candy Container. 1970s Toy Fire Engine # 11 w Driver, Hose Reel Touching Top of Truck, & No Radiator Cap. Vhva ea212r

$9.09

AtMemoryLane

This vintage pressed clear glass candy container is disguised as a toy fire engine. This fire engine features no radiator cap on the center of the hood, an open bottom (that is where the children would access the candy), the wheels and tires are stippled quite lightly, the front has horizontal lines to indicate the grill of the radiator, headlights are present, the front bumper is quite rounded, there is a rear bumper, there is a driver with a visible steering wheel, there are hubcaps on the wheels that protrude out ever so slightly, a definite ridge for the cardboard closure in the candy compartment, and the candy divider is located directly under the driver in the bottom.

Material: Vintage Glass
Colors: Glass is Clear
Who Made: Unknown. I feel this is a remake of a Victory Glass Candy Container that was made in 1943. Please note that Dezso, Poirier, and Poirier do not have this enumerated as a candy container that has been reproduced by another, but I do feel this is a repro. Hey! I could be wrong. But I really do not think so as the glass is just too pretty to have been around since 1943. It is very well made and would be great in any collection. I mean, it even has the number “4” on the bottom. I have handled quite a few of this glass candy containers and I just feel it is from the 70s, rather than the 40s..It even has a straw mark on the back of the vehicle. Like I said, they did a great job with it.
Where Made: Unknown
Approximate Production Date: 1970s
Approximate dimensions in inches: 4 3/4 base length x 1 3/8 base width x 2 tall
Printing on the glass – in the candy compartment: The number “4”
Condition: Very Good Vintage Condition. The glass is free of cracks and repairs. It does have one flea bite on the inner ledge.
I ship using USPS or UPS - whichever is QUICK and least expensive.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it normally take you to ship an item?

All orders received by 8:00 PM Eastern Time are processed (mailed) the next day. I usually drop off packages at the post office in the morning six days a week; I normally drop off packages to the UPS drop off point in the afternoon five days a week.
    - Etsy does not have a system where we can list UPS as an alternative. I ship via USPS or UPS, whichever is least expensive and quickest. I refund shipping overages paid by you.

What do you do if the shipping calculator has over estimated or under estimated the shipping charges?

If the shipping calculation is over by more than 50 cents, I will reimburse you. Yup, I will reimburse you 50 cents.

If the shipping calculator is under by any amount, you will not know about it; that is, I will not request that you make any further payment because of an error of mine, the calculator, or the system.

If I contact you, when can I expect a reply? What are your normal working hours?

My normal hours seven days a week are 1:00 - 9:00 PM. I answer questions within two hours during this time.
On my off hours, I will normally return your question as soon as I open up for the day.

I do not operate with any smart devices - only dumb ones, as they simply do not work in dead zones, so I periodically throughout my day check the old desktop.

Are there any other requirements to return an item? For what reasons do you allow returns?

    1. You, the buyer, shall ensure the items are received by me in the SAME condition in which you received it. You are not required to use the original packaging and box. Feel free to use your own if you so desire
    2. In addition, please provide me, via a convo, the tracking number within one eight calendar days of receiving the item.

Returns can be made for any reason whatsoever. You will receive the original cost of the item and the original shipping. I do not charge a bogus restocking fee. Be aware that the cost to return the item (shipping) will not be reimbursed to you.

Do I, the buyer, pay for shipping insurance?

As you may or may not be aware, shipping insurance benefits the seller. I normally pay for the insurance, if any. The only time, you (the buyer) would pay for the insurance is if YOU request it.

I do not normally buy additional insurance as I tend to pack for a nuclear blast...or, at least, for war.

    Do you accept offers?

NO, I am sorry. I do not.

I do, however, encourage you to shop around. In many of my listings, I leave a reference at the bottom of the description to assist you in your research. This way, you will be able to compare apples with apples.
